Alonzo King travelled to Ethiopia in December as a consultant to The Festival of a Thousand Stars, an annual festival of traditional song and dance of the tribes of Southern Ethiopia. Based in Arba Minch, this unique Festival aims to promote the rich cultural diversity of the peoples of the region and encourage respect and appreciation for varied heritage. From December 13-15, more than 1000 performers from over 57 different ethnic groups, some coming from very remote areas, gathered in a beautiful lakeside town to perform their music and dance, express their tribal identity and celebrate their shared experience. King attended the Festival as a consultant to the Christensen Fund, the Bay Area-based organization.
