Overview

The LINES Ballet School Philosophy

LINES Ballet School offers a unified philosophy of guiding participants on a collaborative journey that values artistic risk-taking and independent thinking. Students are encouraged to problem solve through exploration and a tenacious work ethic. Emphasis is placed on cultivating the dancers’ abilities to recognize their individual gifts, realize their full potentials and express themselves with fluency, while developing a strong technical base. Our aim is to supply a solid technical underpinning, based in classical training, and to provide an environment for the unfolding of the students’ own creative powers.

The LINES Ballet Summer Program 2010

This intense program is designed for aspiring artists ages 11-24 with a focus on exposing young artists to process-oriented work that explores a variety of dance techniques, with ballet as its core discipline. A high priority is placed on educating dancers on the care and maintenance of their bodies while honing their individual voices. Participants of the LINES Ballet Summer Sessions will acquire techniques designed to cultivate strong, well-trained, educated dancers.

Participants of each session will benefit from a small student-to-teacher ratio and experience a rigorous schedule with a minimum of 40 hours per week of study that includes: Ballet, Pointe, Men’s Class, Partnering, Improvisation, Modern, LINES Repertoire, and GYROTONIC®. All students will have the privilege of training with current and former members of LINES Ballet and a diverse range of master artists. Students of both sessions will have the unique opportunity to work with choreographers from around the world on the creation of new work to be performed at the end of each session.

Our summer program is structured as follows:

Session One: June 13-July 9, 2010 will be four weeks long and geared toward intermediate/advanced level dancers ages 11-16.

Session Two: July 13-August 18, 2010 will be five weeks long and geared toward advanced/pre-professional level dancers ages 17-24.
