On April 3, Alonzo King LINES Ballet returns to Yerba Buena Center for the Arts with a world premiere collaboration uniting Alonzo King with natural soundscape artist Bernie Krause and composer Richard Blackford. For more than forty years, Krause has traveled the globe with microphones tuned to the earth and its creatures. His vast archive catalogs not animals, but the sonic imprint of entire ecosystems, forming an intricate living orchestra. As the soundscape permeates the stage the dancers’ habitat is transformed.

The season also welcomes the return of Concerto for Two Violins, choreographed to Bach’s concerto in D Minor and performed live by the Philharmonia Baroque Chamber Players. Alonzo King’s reconception of the iconic score is a sharp salute to ballet’s past while marking the continued evolution of neoclassicism.
