MARCH 3 - APRIL 28
Experience firsthand the creative process of making a new choreographic work that will culminate with a final public performance during Bay Area Dance Week. In this workshop, choreographer Kara Davis will lead you in exploring the kinetic intelligence at work in the interplay between improvisation and composition. Focus on developing technical skills and performance abilities in a safe and creative environment. You’ll discover strategies to mine meaning from the tension between physical intuition and outer form.
The movement practices offered and the choreographic prompts given are intended to disrupt habitual tendencies, allow new creativity to emerge and deepen one’s sense of energetic/physical connection to others. All levels are welcome. Students must be willing to learn new skills as well as open to do improvisation and partnering work.
Includes a public performance at HeART of Market, Mint Plaza, San Francisco, 11:00 AM -1:00 PM, April 26, 2019
