EXPERT IN BOTH DISCICPLINES
Develop your strength, balance, and flexibility all while learning the basic mechanics and execution of Horton technique. Victor focuses on elements of the technique such as Fortifications, Studies, Preludes and basic floor work. During the last section of class, dancers will learn a short combination that will challenge their coordination. This class welcomes adults with no dance experience as well as trained dancers interested in learning the technique and becoming more powerful performers.
In his nontraditional ballet class, students will warm up at the barre where Victor will introduce ideas and concepts that will be developed later. Instead of the traditional center work, dancers will be given choreographic phrases and encouraged to make their own decisions, discover and develop new skills, and expand their practice and curiosity. Dancers will work on speed, musicality, articulation of the spine, and mobility of the upper body as well as clean execution and exploration of the material given.
Contemporary dance at LINES has ballet technique as its foundation but pulls from a variety of dance forms through its creative incarnation. From modern, hip hop, jazz and others, Contemporary dance fuses styles, forms and a wide expression of movement through the creative process and experience.
