EVERY MONDAY, MARCH 4–APRIL 22 | 7:30–8:45pm (PERFORMANCE AT 11AM ON APRIL 26)
In this modern dance performance workshop, Nol will teach material from a finished piece, and then create a new piece with the dancers, which will then be performed. This is a great opportunity for dancers to deepen into a process, there will be eight sessions of this workshop, from March 4 to April 22, with a public performance on Friday, April 26.
The ‘base material’ we will use is from a piece called “Stations” created with Carola Zertuche, artistic director of Theater Flamenco SF. This contemporary movement infused with flamenco uses intricate and rich rhythmic patterns, which will be wonderful to learn.
Along with theatricality, gesture, and partnering, this workshop has a lot to chew on! This is also a chance for dancers to work on their performance style, how they engage with each other, and the audience. Precision, articulation, and ease of movement will be something we work on throughout the workshop.
This workshop is open to dancers at any level. Come have fun and be in a dynamic piece with lovely humans!
