LINES Ballet Spring Home Season
April 5-15, 2018
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater
Tickets go on sale February 1
For over twenty years Alonzo King and Zakir Hussain have been pushing the boundaries of creative expression together. This spring, these two masters of rhythm, vibration and transformation will unite for a special world premiere collaboration in honor of LINES Ballet's 35th Anniversary Season.
Zakir Hussain, a national treasure and classical tabla virtuoso from India, is widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement. Performing live on stage with sarangi master Sabir Kahn, their complex rhythmic systems naturally encourage movement and King’s choreography combines the principles of transcendental Eastern thinking with the foundation of Western ballet’s classical forms and techniques.
