Sydney Leong is a performing/teaching artist and Pilates instructor based on Ramatush/Ohlone land in San Francisco. She began her training at the age of eleven under local Bay Area dance artists, and later attended the California State Summer School for the Arts (2015), the Ailey School Summer Intensive (2019), the LINES Ballet Winter Intensive (2019), and training program at State Street Ballet (2020-21). After graduating from UC Irvine in 2020 with a BFA in Dance Performance and a BA in Chinese Language and Literature, she went on to pursue her Pilates certification with Studio du Corps. While back in San Francisco, she hopes to fulfill her dream of simultaneously practicing ballet variations while learning indigenous Filipino dance with Parangal Dance Company. She is excited to share her positive experience of dance with HeART learners!
During the pandemic, Sydney began leading virtual dance ministry to her church community and taught virtual Pilates mat classes. She also teaches public speaking to young learners under Shanghai-based company Thinktalk and works as a pilates instructor at Equinox Sports Club SF. She hopes to benefit her communities through her passions for movement, language learning, and physical/emotional wellbeing. In her free time, she spends time with family and friends, listens to audiobooks, and goes on long hikes.
