Training Program

Independent Thinking. Fearless Investigation.

Alonzo King LINES Ballet | Training Program cultivates distinguished dance artists through a philosophy that fosters independent thinking, fearless investigation, and personal depth. We propel students to thrive by pushing beyond their preconceived limitations and encouraging the embodiment of excellence.

Our Program is a two-year educational experience for pre-professional dancers ages 17-24. Each year consists of 35 weeks/2 semesters of instruction, during which time participants work with a world-class faculty, including former and current LINES Ballet company members.

Twice yearly, students are privileged to intensely study with Alonzo King in the studio. A remarkable roster of renowned Bay Area, National, and International guest artists conduct workshops and create new works on the students to be showcased in a San Francisco theater performance each semester.

Ultimately, we strive to develop strong, versatile, and intelligent dance artists who are empowered to share their unique voices.

GYROTONIC® Training

Master Trainer and former Alonzo King LINES Ballet company member, Debra Rose provides Training Program students with a unique, highly effective exercise system that works seamlessly with the LINES Ballet philosophy.

She and her team of highly qualified and experienced trainers at San Francisco GYROTONIC® focus on circular movement that endlessly recycles energy. By pairing this understanding of movement with the trainers’ knowledge of dance, students are given the tools to completely transform their bodies and their dance careers.

For more information on the GYROTONIC® or GYROKINESIS® Methods please visit the official GYROTONIC® website.
