BFA at Dominican
How to ApplyLINES Ballet’s BFA Program at Dominican University of California is designed for the career-oriented pre-professional dancer. Prospective students should be at the advanced level in ballet, with additional training in modern and other dance forms a plus. All applicants must submit a dance application to Alonzo King LINES Ballet as well as an Academic Application to Dominican University of California.
Transfer Students: Sophomore and junior transfer students are welcome to apply. We strongly prefer that BFA Program graduates spend a minimum of two years in our program, thus we generally do not accept transfers into the senior class. If you are interested in transferring, we recommend that you email the Program Director, Marina Hotchkiss. In your email, please describe your dance/college history, and attach a transcript if possible.
We are now accepting in-person auditions as well as video auditions. See section three below for details.

Due to the ongoing delays with federal financial aid decisions, academic applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis.

Artistic Application | Alonzo King LINES Ballet
Deadline: April 1, 2025 This artistic application involves an audition as well as submission of the following materials:
- Letter of intent describing how dance has led to a deeper understanding of yourself and the world
- Letter of recommendation from a dance teacher
- Resume of dance experience
- Headshot
- $36 application fee

Auditions for our 2024/25 school year will take place at one of our national audition tour locations, in-person on campus, or via video submission. Details about all three audition methods are included below.

Regardless of audition method, all Artistic Application materials must be submitted to Acceptd prior to auditioning, including a video of a contemporary solo.
Video Audition
Video auditions open September 1, 2024. Please submit your video audition and artistic application through our Acceptd Portal.
*Video auditions should include:

- Center adagio
- Pirouette combination
- Petite allegro
- Pointe combination optional (women)
- Performance or rehearsal footage of a solo or duet
- A video of the applicant performing a contemporary solo (3 minutes max.)
- Maximum length: 10 minutes
