LINES Dance Center is currently offering limited-capacity in-person classes with some classes continuing solely online or in a hybrid format. The setup of each class is informed by the desires of the teacher to ensure a safe and effective learning environment. Updated policies for attending in-person Dance Center classes can be found below on this page.
More details about our reopening plans
Alonzo King LINES Ballet
26 Seventh Street
San Francisco, CA 94103
In accordance with updated policies from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, masks are required for all visitors to LINES Dance Center regardless of vaccination status.
Beginning August 20, all visitors must provide proof of vaccination status upon check-in at the 5th Floor front desk. Acceptable proof of vaccination includes the CDC vaccination card, a physical or digital copy or picture of that card, documentation from a healthcare provider, or a personal digital COVID-19 vaccine record issued by the State of California or by an approved private company. Once you have provided proof to the Dance Center staff, they will make a note in our system for your future visits. Further details are provided below (see: “Attending a Dance Center Class In-Person”)
For our students who would prefer to take class mask-less, we offer a robust line-up of weekly hybrid and online classes. Thank you to our community for looking out for one another and prioritizing the health and wellness of all visitors to LINES Dance Center!
Alonzo King LINES Dance Center is San Francisco’s premier destination for community adult dance education. For more than 35 years, our award-winning faculty have nurtured artistry and creative expression in students of all levels.
Open every day, all year-round, we offer a diverse array of weekly open classes for adults, along with guest artist workshops led by elite choreographers, companies, and artists. From absolute beginners to professional dancers, there is a place for everyone here at LINES Ballet.
All of LINES Ballet’s onsite staff and teachers are fully vaccinated. They are adhering to our Onsite Safety Policies outlined on our Visit webpage and we ask that all visitors do the same. Additional information about attending an in-person class can be found below.
Arrive on time. Latecomers will not be accommodated.
Class placement is at the discretion of our instructors to ensure the safety of all students. Your skill level may be assessed and recommendations made. Please see below for a description of class levels.
LINES does not have an official dress code, but we suggest that you wear clothes that are comfortable to move in and do not restrict you. Avoid clothes that are too loose, as they will make it difficult for the teacher to give you accurate feedback.
1) Download Zoom on your computer, tablet, or mobile device. Create an account and set your Zoom name to match your Mindbody profile.
2) Book your class at least 15 minutes prior to its start time through Mindbody using the online schedule webpage, or on the Alonzo King LINES Dance Center mobile app. A confirmation email will be sent automatically to you at the time of registration. You will receive a separate email containing the class’s Zoom meeting link about 10 minutes before the class starts. Be sure to check your junk mail folder if you cannot find these messages.
Tips and Tricks:
– Make sure you have a stable internet connection
– Keep your mic off when not speaking
– Share your camera so the instructor knows how you’re doing (you can turn off your camera if you’d like)
– Clear space to move
– Have fun!
1) REGISTERING FOR CLASS:
We highly encourage registering for your class online and in advance of coming to the Dance Center. Online registration can be completed through Mindbody using the online schedule webpage or the Alonzo King LINES Dance Center mobile app. Please note that spots are first-come, first-served, and registration opens up online seven days in advance of a given class. If you are new to LINES Dance Center, you will be prompted to complete our waiver forms during the online registration process.
2) BEFORE YOU ARRIVE:
Review our Onsite Safety Policies and plan your transit. Please plan to arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to your class’s start time to help us manage traffic in the building and reduce crowding. Pack your mask; leave food and valuables at home. If you have not yet provided proof of vaccination to the Dance Center staff, make sure to have it handy.
3) ENTERING THE DANCE CENTER:
All visitors must wear a mask securely over their nose and mouth at all times when inside the building. This is required regardless of vaccination status. We recommend bringing a back-up mask in case your first mask becomes damp with sweat (a damp mask decreases its efficacy). Extra masks are also available upon request.
Upon arrival, take the elevator or stairs to the 5th floor to check-in at the Dance Center front desk. Once at the 5th floor front desk, check-in with a Dance Center staff member and provide proof of vaccination if you have not previously done so.
After checking in, you will be directed to the studio where your class will take place. You may bring a lock to store your belongings in a dressing room locker during class, or place them in a designated area within your class’s studio. Water bottles may be filled at the fountains located in the 5th and 3rd floor hallways.
4) DURING CLASS:
Enjoy! As we reacquaint ourselves with sharing space and dancing together, please be extra mindful of one another in the studio. Your patience is appreciated. Questions can be directed to the front desk staff.
5) AFTER CLASS:
Collect all of your belongings and exit the building in a timely manner to reduce crowding.
