Alonzo King LINES Ballet comes together with the San Francisco Symphony for a special performance at Davies Symphony Hall. Maurice Ravel’s enchanting Mother Goose characters come to vivid life through Alonzo King’s inventive choreography and the masterful dancers of LINES Ballet.
Brimming with lush textures and exquisite orchestral details, Mother Goose casts a spell of wonderment with moments such as the moody “Pavane of the Sleeping Beauty,” the magical transformation of the Beast in “Conversations of Beauty and the Beast,” the twinkling “Laideronnette, Empress of the Pagodas,” and the shimmering celebration of nature in “The Enchanted Garden.” The timeless themes and universal appeal of these colorful fairy tales are given a contemporary spin with King’s unique vision.
Don’t miss this transcendent work performed by conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, the San Francisco Symphony, and the dancers of Alonzo King LINES ballet. The program also features Peter Sellars’ electrifying new staging of Schoenberg’s Erwartung, with soprano Mary Elizabeth Williams starring as “The Woman.”
