How to Audition
2023 AUDITION SEASON

Register and audition for a transformative 2 years immersed in artistic investigation, technical growth and personal discovery! Acceptance is by audition only. Candidates must be 18 years of age by the start of the program in order to be considered. Candidates must complete their high school degree or equivalent prior to entering the program.

There are currently 3 ways to audition for the Training Program: In-Person, Virtually, or by Video.

INDIVIDUALLY SCHEDULED AUDITION

 

Schedule an audition by taking class with our current Training Program students and an esteemed faculty member. All classes are adjudicated by our Training and Summer Programs Director.

Our coordinator will help you select an appropriate date and time.
No refunds given.

Video Audition


Audition footage should be no longer than 8 minutes in length. The intention is to show technical clarity, placement and understanding. Please include:

  • Barre work | 1 side only
  • Center adagio
  • Pirouettes
  • Petite & Grande Allegro
  • Solo | 1 – 2 minutes of contemporary or improvisation highlighting your movement quality and artistic choices.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

All prospective students must submit the following materials:

  • Headshot | No larger than 5 MB
  • Letter of Intent | Describe your aspirations and intentions as an artist. How do you believe the Training program will help you achieve these goals?
  • Dance Resume | Training, School, Performance History
  • Contemporary Solo | Video Link Submit a current 2-minute video link of your contemporary and/or improvisational movement.
     
  • Letter of Recommendation | 1 Current Dance Teacher Letter from at least 1 current dance teacher describing your level of skill, dedication, character or other relevant information. Teacher must submit this letter directly to:

DRESS CODE

There is no dress code for our Training Program Auditions, nor are there restrictions of color or style. However, we suggest wearing form-fitting dance or athletic wear. Hair should be neatly away from the face. Appropriate footwear to safely dance on the surface of your floor.

AFTER YOUR AUDITION

Audition results are sent via email on a rolling basis. Candidates should expect to receive their results 2-4 weeks after their audition date.
Note: If you have not received an email within 4 weeks, please make sure to check all email addresses affiliated with your account and all junk mail folders for emails from training-program@linesballet.org. If you still have not received notification, please contact us. Include the student’s full name, audition location, and primary email provided at registration in your email.
